Just one-day before the 4/27/16 release deadline, the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing (JCHCF) filed an extension order for H. 1996/S. 1207 until June 22, 2016.
Although we had hoped for a favorable release from committee; we are still in the game, and this is a better outcome than being sent to study.
While we have been assured that the JCHCF wants to do something on this issue and that the extension order is not a delay tactic; we have no assurances that the committee will release the bill without first proposing changes which could potentially include removing the CRNAs from the bill and/or imposing stricter licensing requirements for any NP who would practice without physician supervision of their prescriptive authority.
Legislators have communicated that they are trying to get a political read from their legislative colleagues in the House and Senate before making a decision on what the bill looks like.
After this week, when the House finishes its budget debate, the committee may meet to discuss these specifics again.
The importance of our grassroots action cannot be over emphasized at this time.
Please respond to our action alerts in the coming days and weeks which will have adjusted messaging as we continue to move forward.
Many thanks for your help in getting us this far.
We are not done fighting and with your continued advocacy and engagement, we are determined to get this legislation passed!
