MCNP PAC Hosts Event for Speaker DeLeo

This is a historic time nationally and in Massachusetts for health care. On the heels of our most recent legislative success, the recognition of NPs as primary care providers, the state is poised to make significant changes to health care payment. Nurse practitioners must be included in these discussions. Without payment for our services we are not valued providers. Not since the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 have the stakes been so high. Now is the time for us to be present, vocal and visible.

The new Massachusetts Speaker of the House, Robert DeLeo, is a key decision maker in these deliberations and time with him, to help him understand the role of the NP in primary care, and to have him get to know us as individuals is very important. I cannot stress this enough.

With this goal in mind, the MCNP Political Action Committee is hosting an event for Speaker DeLeo on October 28th at John Brewer's Tavern in Medford from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Please make every effort to attend this exclusive event. While your financial contribution will be appreciated, your presence will have an even greater impact on increasing the visibility of NPs in this pending debate. We must have a large number of nurse practitioners in the room. Please try and stop by, if only for a few minutes, to meet the speaker. He must see that nurse practitioners are a political force in Massachusetts. The Coalition PAC will be making a donation, so please do not feel pressured to donate. What I need is your body and your voice. If you can write a check, even for a small amount, that is appreciated and will go a long way to show the Speaker that we support his work. BUT YOUR PRESENCE WILL GO MUCH FURTHER.

Please help us make a large impression about the importance of the NP in the health care payment reform debate. We are in the right place at the right time to make more significant changes for our profession and our patients!
