The MCNP Preceptor List

To help our student members in their search for preceptors and clinical placements, the MCNP has created a dedicated Preceptor Email List. This list identifies those MCNP members who would consider working with a student and are willing to receive preceptor related emails. As of July 2010, there are approximately 275 members on this list.

All requests for preceptors are sent through the preceptor email list service, and we ask that students NOT use the Member Directory and Find an NP search feature to directly contact MCNP members for this purpose.

The use of the Preceptor list is a benefit for CURRENT MCNP Student Members who have paid their annual dues.

If you are a current MCNP student member and would like to send out a request for a preceptor, you may forward a detailed description of what you need to . To get a sense of format and recommended content, please see the sample posting below.

Dear MCNP Preceptors,

My name is XXX and I am a FNP student at XX College in need of a family practice clinical placement for the Fall XX semester. I require approximately X hours per week from September through December. I have had prior placements at XX Health Center with a pediatric NP and also with an internist at a private primary care practice in XX.

As a staff nurse, I have worked at XX Hospital on a Med-Surg floor and more recently in the Emergency Room.

I live in XX and am seeking a placement in the XX area (but am willing to travel).

I am happy to forward a resume and answer any other questions you may have about the precepting requirements.
